Taiwan students' innovative ideas and achievements continue at the 2024 Malaysia Invention Exhibition

(Jingbao reporter Zhang Yahen/Taichung report) The 35th ITEX Malaysia International Invention Exhibition 2024 was held in Kuala Lumpur. This year, a total of nearly 1,000 works from 20 countries participated in the competition. The "Putai High School Invention Club" and "Invention Star Training Class" guided by the invention switch team had a total of 8 works and won a total of 3 gold, 5 silver and 1 special award, which was a very fruitful result.

The starting points of the eight works are different. From issues surrounding daily life to various disasters of varying sizes to environmental and energy issues, they all put forward quite in-depth insights, demonstrating the students' passion for problem exploration and their delicate performance in solving problems, allowing their creativity to be fully utilized.

The work "Temperature Detection Handle" is a collective creation of students from the International Department of Putai High School. It takes the fires that occur in Taiwan every year as its starting point, and extends the concept of self-rescue in fire escape. The work applies special temperature-sensitive color-changing materials to door handles, so that people who need to escape due to fire can have a reference for the conditions outside the door, avoiding the situation where the door is opened without knowing it and the high temperature of the flames quickly pours into the room, causing unnecessary casualties.

The work "Internal and External Tooth Clamp" is a personal work by Xu Pengjun, a student at Taichung Hongwen High School. In addition to facing the pressure of busy schoolwork, Xu Pengjun is also grateful for the efforts of his parents, so he often accompanies his father to the construction site to assist. It was also at this time that he discovered that the tools he usually uses are prone to excessive force, causing tooth fractures, and even accidentally causing personal injury. So he created this work based on this starting point, hoping to improve engineering safety and quality.

The work "Luggage Connection Structure" is a personal work of Hong Weicheng, a student at Changhua Chenggong High School. Hong Weicheng saw the inconveniences and accidents caused by passengers dragging luggage reported in the news media, and combined with his own experience of traveling abroad, he proposed a work that can connect luggage of different brands and facilitate getting on and off escalators. He hopes that the tourism industry and travelers who are beginning to recover after the epidemic will have a more convenient and happy journey.

The person in charge of inventing the switch said, we have always hoped to make a breakthrough
The established framework of education gives students more opportunities to express themselves and gain achievement and confidence outside of class. During the training process, teachers will constantly discuss various topics with students. These creativity and ideas, combined with the hard work of the students, will surely yield fruitful results. We also hope that students will not only strive to express themselves in major competitions, but also observe works from all over the world to improve themselves and come up with more excellent works in the future.
